Types of Libraries

Desktop uses libraries to store and manage folders and documents. Libraries include Personal Libraries that can be set for individual users and the following types of libraries.
Network Libraries
Document Server Libraries
SharePoint Server Libraries
In addition, Desktop can register the Advanced Space of an imageRUNNER ADVANCE device as a Personal Library or Network Library.

Network Libraries

A Network Library enables you to register the NAS devices and the shared folders in Windows as libraries to share documents with other users.
NOTE
To use a folder on the network as a library, that folder must be externally published with the SMB protocol and able to be accessed with Windows.
The NTFS file system is recommended for folders used as network libraries.
For more information on NAS settings, see the manuals for the NAS device.
If you register a library to NAS, event monitoring may not operate correctly, depending on the environment.

Document Server Libraries

Document Server is a web-based document management server that runs on Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0/Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007/Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010. Desktop can link with Document Server to manage the libraries managed by Document Server as Document Server Libraries, even on Desktop.

SharePoint Server Libraries

SharePoint Server is a web-based document management server that runs on Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services. You can use the sites and document libraries in SharePoint Server with Desktop. After registering a site, you can display the list of document libraries in the site and you do not need to register document libraries one by one.
This improves the linkage between Desktop and Microsoft Office series products and allows you to operate and manage documents more efficiently.
