Cautions Regarding the Canon Generic PCL6 Driver

To use this printer, you must first set the type of printer you are using and the options installed in the printer in the [Device Settings] tab of the printer properties dialog box. If you select functions in the printer driver that are not available for the printer you are using, it may result in unintended print results.
If you set a paper source that is not installed in the printer, paper will be supplied from the printer's priority paper source.
If the paper source you have specified and the paper size/type do not match, an error will occur.
If you specify 2-sided printing for a printer that does not support 2-sided printing, the document will print on one side of the paper.
If you specify stapling for a printer that does not support stapling, the document will be printed unstapled.
If you specify saddle stitching for a printer that does not support saddle stitching, the document will be printed without saddle stitching.
If you select [Output Method] - [Store] when printing from a printer that does not support mail box storage, the document will be printed normally. If an error is displayed on the touch panel display of the printer and the printer goes offline, the document is printed when the printer goes online again.
If you specify department ID management for a printer that does not have department ID management, an error will occur.
Depending on the printer you are using, in the following cases printing may take longer than usual.
If you specify portrait orientation when printing from an A4 (landscape) paper source.
If you specify landscape orientation when printing from an A4R (portrait) paper source.
If you specify landscape orientation for A3 paper.
If you specify color printing for a black and white printer, the document will be output in black and white, but the print quality may deteriorate and printing may take some time.
If functions that are not supported by this printer driver are set on the control panel of the printer you are using, the printer settings are enabled when printing. For example, if the function for inserting a sheet of paper between transparencies is enabled at the printer, a sheet of paper is inserted between each two transparencies when printing, and if the copy set numbering function has been enabled at the printer, the document will be printed with copy set numbering.
[] (Retrieve Device Status Information) for [Device Settings] may not recognize an attached option, depending on the printer and option you are using. To make an option available for use, manually specify the option settings in the [Device Settings] tab.
