Desktop System Settings

This section describes the system settings of Desktop.
Browser
[Display Settings]
Enables you to specify display settings.
[Document List Display Settings]
Enables you to specify display settings for documents displayed on the File List View Window.
[Automatically mark unread documents as read when displayed]
Select this check box to automatically clear document highlighting in monitored folders.
[Display number of pages in the Thumbnail]
Select this check box to display the number of pages for PDF documents when using the thumbnail view on the File List View Window. However, this is not displayed in a Document Server Library.
[Refresh Document List]
Enables you to specify settings for the document list.
[Immediately apply document and folder updates to document list]
Select this check box to immediately apply changes when an open folder is changed.
[Regularly monitor document and folder updates and apply to document list]
Select this check box and set a time in [Monitoring Interval] to regularly monitor a document or folder for changes. You can set a time between 10 and 999 seconds. Since inquiries are sent to the server that manages the documents/folders, the load on the server may increase.
[Document Preview Settings]
Enables you to specify preview settings.
[Enable preview feature for [Explorer]]
Select this check box to enable previews in Explorer.
[Do not preview files with the specified extensions]
Select this check box to not allow files with the specified extensions to be previewed.

[My Tray]
Enables you to specify My Tray settings.
[Display My Tray in the navigation window]
Select this check box to display My Tray on the Navigation Window.
[Location of the folder where files that could not be transferred to My Tray are stored]
Displays the folder where files are stored by selecting [Open Folder].
[Edit/Operation Documents]
Enables you to specify document edit/operation settings.
[Select Program for Opening PDF Document]
Enables you to select the program for opening PDF documents.
[Select Program]
Select [Prioritize Editor] or [Prioritize applications]. For more information, see the following.
[Moving/Copying Operations]
Enables you to specify document moving/copying settings.
[Confirm if the document you dragged has been moved or copied]
Select this check box to specify whether to move or copy a document when dragging and dropping.
[Select operation when moving/copying documents/folders of the same name]
Select this check box to enable you to select whether to overwrite a document/folder with the same name when moving/copying it into its destination. If you do not select this check box, the moved/copied document/folder is not overwritten and is saved with (2), (3), - Copy, - Copy (2), - Copy (3), etc. appended at the end of its original name.
[Copy the values of entries with matching property settings]
Select this check box to copy the values of property settings that exist in both libraries when moving/copying documents into a library that is different from its destination. Memos are also copied if they can be handled by the destination library.
[Display a warning when moving/copying documents with different property settings]
Select this check box to display a warning message concerning moving/copying documents with different property settings.
[Shared Document Management]
Enables you to specify shared document management settings.
[Shared Document Management]
Enables you to specify shared document management settings.
[Check in automatically after exiting the application that is editing documents]
Select this check box to automatically check in after saving document changes.
[Enter version comments when checking in documents]
Select this check box to enter a version comment when checking in documents.
[Open double-clicked documents in read-only mode]
Select this check box to open double-clicked documents in the read-only mode.
[Save user name and password for connection to library]
Select this check box to save the user name and password you use to connect to the library.
[Fax]
Enables you to specify fax send settings.
[Fax Sending Settings]
Enables you to specify fax settings for when a fax is sent.
[Sending Settings]
Retrieves a fax number with [Retrieve Fax Number].
[Display Dialog Box]
Enables you to specify dialog box display settings.
[Process When Separating The Document]
Enables you to specify document division settings.
[Select original document processing when separating document into single pages]
Select this check box to select the original document processing method when separating a document into single pages.
[Select original document processing when separating document at selected page]
Select this check box to select the original document processing method when separating a document at the selected page.
[Select Document Processing Order]
Enables you to specify document processing order settings when converting multiple PDF documents to a single PDF document.
[Select document processing order when converting selected documents to a single PDF document]
Select this check box to select the processing order when converting multiple documents to a single PDF document.
[Process When Converting The Document]
Enables you to specify document deletion message settings when converting multiple PDF documents to a single PDF document.
[Display the confirmation message if only the converted document is kept when converting to PDF document]
Select this check box to display a message confirming that the documents will be deleted when converting multiple documents to a single PDF document.
[Display the confirmation message if the top document is overwritten when converting to PDF documents]
Select this check box to display a message confirming that the first document will be overwritten when converting multiple documents to a single PDF document.
[Check Out/Check In]
Enables you to specify document check in/check out settings.
[Display confirmation message when checking out documents]
Select this check box to display a confirmation message when checking out documents.
[Display confirmation message when checking in documents]
Select this check box to display a confirmation message when checking in documents.
[Others]
Enables you to specify other dialog box display settings.
[Display a confirmation message when sending fax of IWB documents]
Select this check box to display a confirmation message when sending an IWB document by fax.
[Display a confirmation message for Windows Search service settings]
Select this check box to display a confirmation message concerning the Windows Search service settings.
Editor
[Annotations]
Enables you to specify annotation settings.
[Resolution Settings when Copying Image]
Enables you to specify the image resolution to use when copying a selected area as an image.
[Resolution]
Select the resolution from the pull-down list.

[Annotation Properties]
Enables you to specify the user name to assign to annotations.
[User Name]
Select [Use login user name] or [Use custom user name] for the user name to assign to annotations.
If you selected [Use custom user name], enter a user name in [User Name]. For more information, see the following.
[Signed Digital Stamp Settings]
Enables you to specify settings related to signed digital stamps.
[Fix size at insertion]
Select this check box if you want to fix the size of digital stamps when inserting them.
[Options]
Enables you to specify optional settings for Desktop Editor.
[Options]
Enables you to specify optional Desktop Editor settings.
[Save the original document as Canon Desktop Document]
Select this check box to save the original documents when creating an IWB document.
[Display a printable area in the print preview]
Select this check box to display the printable area in previews on the Work Window.
[Display Dialog Box]
Enables you to specify dialog box display settings for Desktop Editor.
[Display dialog box for document order settings when importing multiple documents]
Select this check box to display a dialog box for specifying the order when importing multiple documents or Outlook message files (.msg).
[Display confirmation message when resetting print settings]
Select this check box to display a dialog box confirming whether to reset the print settings when [Reset Print Settings] is clicked on the ribbon/toolbar.
[Display the confirmation message if the entire document may not be able to staple using Eco function]
Select this check box to display a confirmation message when printing a document with [Staple Entire Document Using Eco Function] or [Staple Same Pages Using Eco Function] selected in the staple settings if Eco (Staple-Free) may not be able to be performed.
[Display the confirmation message if the print preview is not displayed when printing]
Select this check box to display a message confirming whether you want to check a print preview by selecting the [Print Settings] tab or [Print Option] tab on the ribbon before printing or sending a fax from the following modes.

Document Monitor
[Display Settings]
Enables you to specify Document Monitor display settings.
[Icon Display Settings]
Enables you to specify the document notification icon settings on the taskbar.
[The task tray icon will blink for notifications of unread/modified documents]
Select this check box to display document notifications with the document notification icon on the taskbar.
[[List of Unread/Modified Documents] Display Settings]
Enables you to specify the [List of Unread/Modified Documents] window display settings.
[Display thumbnails when selecting documents]
Select this check box to display thumbnails in the [List of Unread/Modified Documents] window. If this check box is selected, document thumbnails are displayed when the following operations are performed.
When a My Tray document is selected in [List of Unread/Modified Documents]
When the mouse pointer is placed over a document in a monitored folder in the [List of Unread/Modified Documents] window
[Always display monitored folders]
Select this check box to continue displaying monitored folders and My Tray in the [List of Unread/Modified Documents] window even when there are no unread/updated documents in a monitored folder, or new documents in My Tray. If you deselect this check box, monitored folders and My Tray are removed from the [List of Unread/Modified Documents] window when there are no documents to notify you of.
[[List of Unread/Modified Documents] always display in front]
Select this check box to always display the [List of Unread/Modified Documents] window in front.
[Monitored Folder Settings]
Enables you to specify monitored folder settings.
[Monitored Folder Settings]
Enables you to specify monitored folder settings.
[Monitor specified folders]
Select this check box to monitor the folders set for monitoring in Desktop Browser.
[Monitoring Interval]
Set the folder monitoring interval, from 1 to 99 minutes.
[Display [List of Unread/Modified Documents]]
Select this check box to display the [List of Unread/Modified Documents] window when there are unread/updated documents.
[Leave document log for monitored folders]
Select this check box to retain the log of the notifications displayed in the [List of Unread/Modified Documents] window.
[Documents to Display]
Specify the targets that are notified by the [List of Unread/Modified Documents] window. Select [Unread documents only] or [Unread documents and modified documents].
[Notification Sound Settings]
Enables you to set the notification sound.
[Notify by sound for unread/modified documents in the monitored folders]
Select this check box to provide audio notification when unread documents/updated documents are in the monitored folder.
[Notification Sound]
Select [Use default sound] or [Change sound]. If [Change sound] is selected, the sound specified for [File Name] is set as the notification sound.
[Browse]
Enables you to specify the sound file.
[Play]
Enables you to test the sound. Click [OK] or [Cancel] to stop the sound.
[My Tray Settings]
Enables you to specify My Tray monitoring settings.
[My Tray Settings]
Enables you to specify My Tray monitoring settings.
[Display [List of Unread/Modified Documents] when new documents arrive]
Select this check box to display the [List of Unread/Modified Documents] window when there are new documents in My Tray.
[Leave document log for My Tray]
Select this check box to retain the log of the My Tray notifications displayed in the [List of Unread/Modified Documents] window.
[Notification Sound Settings]
Enables you to set the notification sound.
[Notify by sound for new documents in My Tray]
Select this check box to provide audio notification when there are new documents in My Tray.
[Notification Sound]
Select [Use default sound] or [Change sound]. If [Change sound] is selected, the sound specified for [File Name] is set as the notification sound.
[Browse]
Enables you to specify the sound file.
[Play]
Enables you to test the sound. Click [OK] or [Cancel] to stop the sound.
Common Settings
[Print/Fax]
Enables you to specify print/fax settings.
[Processing when printing/sending fax]
Enables you to specify settings related to printing and sending faxes.
[Display print/send fax dialog]
Select this check box to display the [Print]/[Send Fax] dialog box to select whether to add annotations when performing quick printing/faxing with Desktop Editor.
[Auto Select Paper]
Enables you to specify automatic paper selection settings.
[Select Paper Size]
Select either [Use a custom paper size] or [Use a paper size similar to the original size] for the paper size to use when [Auto (Size)] is selected as the output paper size in Desktop Editor.
If [Use a paper size similar to the original size] is selected, select the check box for the paper sizes that can be used in [Select Paper Size].
[Options]
Enables you to specify optional print/fax send settings.
[Print PDF document as an image]
Select this check box to print and send PDF documents via fax as images. If you select this check box, select a resolution from the [Resolution] pull-down list.

[Import]
Enables you to specify import settings.
[Canon Desktop Document Writer Processing]
Enables you to specify Desktop Document Writer processing settings.
[Select Process]
Select [Convert to an IWB document, and open with Editor], [Convert to a PDF document, and save a PDF document in the library of iW Desktop], or [Select process when importing] as the processing method when outputting with Desktop Document Writer. For more information, see the following.
[Outlook Message File Settings]
Enables you to specify Outlook message file settings.
[Also import files attached to Outlook message files (.msg)]
Select this check box to also import files attached to msg documents.
[Import Large-Sized Image]
Enables you to specify large-sized image processing settings.
[Reduced Image Paper Size]
Select the paper size to reduce the image to when you import an image whose width or height exceeds 482.6 mm (19 inches). This setting is reflected in the following module operations.

Converting to PDF documents, printing, and sending faxes from the Quick Printing Tool
Converting to PDF documents from Desktop Browser and printing and sending faxes from the output bar
[Display Settings]
Enables you to specify display settings.
[File Extensions Display]
Enables you to specify file extension display settings.
[Display extensions]
Select this check box to display file extensions. For more information, see the following.
[Select Image Quality]
Enables you to specify preview display quality settings.
[Select The Image Quality To Be Displayed In The Preview]
Select [High quality] or [Jagged outline] as the display quality for previews. For more information, see the following.
[Preferences]
Enables you to specify the settings for preferences.
[Computer startup Settings]
Enables you to specify computer startup settings.
[Start Document Monitor at computer startup]
Select this check box to start Document Monitor when the computer starts.
[Application Add-ins]
Enables you to specify external application add-in settings.
[Enable add-ins in Microsoft Office]
Select this check box if you want to enable the Desktop Office Toolbar as an add-in for Microsoft Office 2007/2010/2013/2016.
[Window Color Settings]
Enables you to change the color of the windows in Desktop Browser and Desktop Editor.
[Color of Browser]
Enables you to change the color of the windows in Desktop Browser. Select the color to set from the pull-down list. For more information, see the following.
[Color of Editor]
Enables you to change the color of the windows in Desktop Editor. Select the color to set from the pull-down list. For more information, see the following.
[Select Display Language]
Enables you to specify settings related to the display language.
[Display Language]
Enables you to switch the display language of Desktop. For more information, see the following.
