Troubleshooting

When setting prior to printing

When adding the fax in [System Preferences], the device name you are using is not displayed.
Check the following:
Is the device connected to the computer correctly?
Is the device turned on?
Is the device online?
Is the driver is installed correctly?
If you think that the driver was not installed correctly, reinstall it.

When printing

The device name you are using is not displayed under [Printer] in the [Print] dialog box
There is a possibility that when adding the fax in [System Preferences], you select the wrong driver name.
Delete the fax you added in [System Preferences], and add the fax again, selecting a driver that corresponds to the device you are using. Also, after adding the fax, set the fax options.
Some functions are not available
Check the following:
Is the device connected to the computer via USB?
If you are connecting via USB a device that supports bidirectional communication, you cannot use some functions with certain printer models. To use all of the functions, you must add the device using a TCP/IP or Bonjour connection and get the printer information from the Canon FAX Utility.
Are the fax options correctly set?
If you are using the driver for the first time or want to change the options of the device, set the options so that you can use the functions of the device.
For bidirectional communication, when you display the printer information from the Canon FAX Utility, the option information can be automatically obtained and set.
For unidirectional communication, you need to manually set the options. Verify the options set in the device and reset them correctly.
Data is not sent to the device
Check the following:
Is the device connected to the computer correctly?
Is the device turned on?
Is the device online?
Sending data to the device takes a long time
If the size of data containing color photographs is large, sending the data may take some time. Wait while the device is receiving the data.
Check the following:
Is the resolution set high?
Reduce the resolution in the [Print] dialog box > [Special Features] or [Advanced Settings] preferences pane > [Resolution].
Does the device have sufficient memory?
If you are using a printer model the enables memory expansion, increase the amount of memory.
The edge of sent data is missing
Check the following:
Do the document size set in the application and the paper size set in the [Print] dialog box match?
Do the margins set in the application exceed the printable range?
