Basic Faxing Method

This topic describes the basic procedure for faxing using the fax driver.
1.
From the [File] menu of the application, select [Print].

Select the device you are using from [Printer].
To display all options:
In Mac OS X 10.7 or later, click [Show Details] at the bottom of the screen.

Select the [General Settings] from the pop-up menu → specify a destination.
If you use the IP fax function with an IPv6 connection, you cannot send a fax if you specify "sip:<IPv6 address>" when entering the URI. Enter the following instead:
sip:[<IPv6 address>]
To specify a new entry
G3/G4 fax transmission:
Click [Add Destination] → enter [Destination Name]→ select [G3/G4] from [Communication Mode] → select [Fax Number] from [Fax Number/URI] → enter [Fax Number] → click [Add].
If you are using a printer model that does not support IP fax transmission, click [Add Destination] → enter [Destination Name] and [Fax Number] → click [Add].
IP fax transmission:
Click [Add Destination] → enter [Destination Name] → select [Intranet], [NGN], [NGN My Number], or [VoIP Gateway] from [Communication Mode] → select [Fax Number] or [URI] from [Fax Number/URI] → enter a fax number or URI → click [Add].
If [Add Destination] is not displayed, enter [Destination Name] and [Fax Number] in the [General Settings] preferences pane, then click [Add Destination].
If you select [URI] from [Fax Number/URI], you cannot select [G3/G4], [NGN], [NGN My Number], or [VoIP Gateway] from [Communication Mode].
[NGN] and [NGN My Number] are services that are available only in Japan.
To specify from the Address Book
Click [Address Book] → select a destination → click [Add].
If you add a group as a destination, the number you have set as the primary number in [Edit] > [Edit Distribution List] of the macOS Address Book (Contacts) becomes the destination.

If you want to set the resolution and outside line prefix, select the [Special Features] or [Advanced Settings] preferences pane from the pop-up menu → set the required functions.
Outside line numbers are not set for destinations that specify a URI.

If you want to attach a cover sheet, select the [Cover Sheet] preferences pane from the pop-up menu → set the required functions.
6.
Click [Print].
Fax transmission begins.
